The spectacular location for the house had been selected as a ‘luncheon pavilion’ by Edward Baring, Lord Revelstoke, who was the Governor of the Bank of England in the 1880’s; at the midway point along the Nine Mile Drive around his estate, the house was used to entertain the Prince of Wales, Edward VII, and was later sold and became a family home.
